Ryan Jefferson, M.D., is a Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon with dedicated subspecialty fellowship training in Orthopedic Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery. He is a candidate member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and has broad and unique experience in surgery of the hand and upper extremity. His focus is treating conditions of the hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow. His practice encompasses all aspects of care for both adults and children. Additionally, his background in Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery has afforded him extensive experience in nerve injury, reconstruction, and compression; complex bony and soft tissue reconstruction; and micro-neurovascular surgery throughout the body.

Dr. Jefferson received his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and Kinesiology from The Ohio State University, where he was a four-year distinguished scholar athlete on the University Men’s Swim and Diving Team. He earned his medical degree from The University of Toledo College of Medicine where he was ranked in the top 5% of graduates nationwide. He then completed his residency training at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center in the Department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.  After residency, he completed fellowship training in orthopedic hand and upper extremity surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Jefferson is committed to orthopedic education and has authored and contributed to several academic journals and texts.

As an accomplished springboard and platform diver, he was a U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier, ten-time U.S. National Finalist, Big Ten Silver Medalist, Big Ten Team Champion, and NCAA Second Team All-American at The Ohio State University and for USA Diving.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Mallory, and their three children: Max, and twins Luke and Charlotte. When not with family, he enjoys golfing, exercise [completing an Ironman Triathlon in 2011], reading, and being on the water. As a former Ohio State Varsity Athlete, he and his family are avid Buckeyes and proud central Ohioans.
