Dr. Ryan Blackwell is a fellowship trained orthopedic sports medicine and shoulder reconstruction surgeon. He specializes in sports medicine, including rotator cuff repair, ACL reconstruction, joint preservation surgery, tendon and ligament treatment and repair, and anatomic and reverse shoulder replacement.
Dr. Blackwell received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and then went on to complete a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Denver, Colorado before moving back to Columbus to start his journey with Orthopedic ONE.
Dr. Blackwell is dedicated to orthopedic education and is an active member in several professional societies and has won awards for his excellence in teaching and leadership during his training. Dr. Blackwell has a special interest in providing care for athletes of all ages from adolescents and weekend warriors to professionals and Olympians. He has experience serving as a team physician for the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies as well as multiple high schools and has an expertise in minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques and the use of cutting-edge biologic therapies.
Dr. Blackwell uses an individualized approach to work with patients to find the best treatment options to get them back to the things they love to do.
Dr. Blackwell’s interests include watching and playing soccer, barbecuing, and traveling. He lives in Dublin with his wife, Jenna and daughter, Emma.
