James E. Popp, M.D.

I enjoy being on the leading edge of medical research. I value being able to use new developments to help my patients.

Dr. James E. Popp specializes in surgery of the hand and upper extremity in adult and pediatric patients. He has special interests in hand problems like carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist arthroscopy, joint replacement surgery for arthritis and complex pediatric and adult reconstructive micro-vascular surgery.

He is a graduate of Case Western Reserve with a concentration in musculoskeletal studies. He completed a residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center, where he also participated in an orthopaedic surgery research fellowship and a general surgery internship. Dr. Popp also completed a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at the Indiana Hand Center in Indianapolis.

Dr. Popp has excellent research experience gained from his involvement in several clinical studies and training programs. He has writtenand contributed to an extensive list of published articles and abstracts including pieces for The American Journal of Sports Medicine. Inaddition, Dr. Popp also has presented at and contributed to several exhibits, presentations, and teaching opportunities in the area of orthopedic medicine.

  • On a Mission – James Popp, MD and Family Travel to Santo Domingo

    Dr. Popp, accompanied by his daughter, Callista, son, Maximos and niece, Victoria, spent the week of June 5, 2017 on a Mission Trip in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.


    The trip was coordinated through CURE International, a faith based non-profit dedicated to healing and serving children with physical disabilities. CURE Dominican Republic was CURE’s first presence in Latin America. Located in the capital city, the pediatric orthopedic hospital provides inpatient surgical and rehabilitative care to disabled children.
