I had right knee replacement surgery by Dr. Smidt in October, 2025. He was extremely patient with all of my questions before and after surgery and I never felt rushed during office visits. His daily protocol of gradually increasing steps per day, combined with stretches followed by ice and elevation every waking hour, can be tedious, but was so very worth it! I never needed opioids. Pain was minimal – mostly aching and some discomfort. I was amazed at how soon I was walking around without any assistance (walker or cane). His staff was great and questions I sent through the patient portal were always answered promptly. Completing six weeks of the hourly/daily protocol allowed me to start physical therapy with great mobility and range-of-motion for their strength training. Shout out also to the Orthopedic One Gahanna physical therapy staff. They were so friendly and helpful. I will be using Dr. Smidt again in the fall for my left knee.
