I moved to Ohio in September from Alabama and needed an orthopedic doctor to evaluate my knee. I had knee replacement Feb. 6, 2024, in Alabama and I started having instability issues the beginning of 2025. I held off going back to the doctor because my recovery was very hard the first time around. I needed a walker for 6 weeks and pain medication for 8 weeks. After my move, I found Orthopedic ONE through a Google search and looked through doctor’s and found Dr. Smidt. My initial appointment was in October and immediately I knew this would be my new orthopedic doctor. He evaluated me and explained why I had instability. We had a plan to avoid going into surgery again, but physical therapy would be a waste of time. I had strength and range of motion my issue was instability. We decided that he needed to go back in and perform a revision. From the day I scheduled my surgery until my surgery I was provided with so much information. A complete book that had step by step procedures to do pre-surgery through post-surgery. Dr. Smidt has a protocol to help reduce the use of narcotics needed after surgery. I had my revision on the 6th of February 2026, and I followed the protocol to the letter. I purchased the endema wear stocking and performed the exercises every hour logged my progress and took my medication regimen as prescribed. He prescribed antibiotics, anti-inflammation medication and a new pain medication that is non-narcotic. I did not have to take one narcotic pill my entire recovery process. I was walking without assistance in 2 weeks and had excellent range of motion at my 3-week postoperative appointment. I was truly shocked at the fact that I didn’t need nothing more than Tylenol after having knee revision. My recovery this time around was a breeze and I think this should be introduced worldwide. I hate taking pain medication and to go through a surgery of this magnitude and not need any narcotics was truly a blessing. I can’t thank Dr. Smidt and Orthopedic ONE enough not only for my surgery or process but also for making me feel as if I’m the only patient they have. I didn’t feel rushed when I went for appointments, I felt as if he actually listened and put my best interest first. If you have Dr. Smidt, trust me, follow his protocol and you will get the results you want. I’m grateful for them. Those endema wear stocking are life savers I had little to no swelling. No swelling definitely equals no pain.
