I was referred to Dr. Jones because of severe and excruciating pain that started in my left buttock and traveled down the leg to my calf muscle, causing it to contract. After several tests, it was determined that a slipped disc, which was pinching the sciatica nerve, was the cause of the pain, and surgery was needed to resolve the problem. After showing us the X-rays, Dr. Jones explained, as he demonstrated the procedure, that he and his partner would use to resolve the problem. Once Dr. Jones, my husband, and I discussed the risks, we decided that the best option to stop or minimize the pain was to do surgery. Pre-surgery, I could not stand nor walk without excruciating pain shooting down my leg. For appointments outside of my home, I had to use a wheelchair. To help manage the pain while at home, I used a rollator and walked with my left heel off the floor (on my tippy toes). I could not sleep in a bed because of the relentless and excruciating pain I experienced; therefore, I slept on the floor on my back. Post surgery—I can walk with both feet flat on the floor and sleep in a bed on my left side without any pain related to the sciatic nerve. It’s a miracle! Firstly, a thank you goes out to Dr. Jones’ office personnel who answered any questions I had. I called the week prior to surgery and shared with the surgery scheduler that I was a little apprehensive about the upcoming surgery; she told me to think about how much better I was going to feel after surgery. She was correct! I feel so much better. Additionally, I would like to thank the support and surgical staff who assisted Dr. Jones before and during the procedure. Thirdly, a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Jones for having faith in his skills as a surgeon and a willingness to share those skills and expertise with others. It’s truly a miracle!
