The first time I met Dr. Kevin Smidt was at my mom’s Hip Surgery. I had shorts on and he asked me if I was happy with my knee replacement. I was 9 months out from my TKR and still had a lot of swelling. I was told by my first surgeon my swelling could take a year or two before it got better. After seeing how well my 86-year-old mom recovered from her hip and knee replacement with Dr Smidt I decided to see Dr Smidt for my one-year TKR checkup. After looking at my X-rays Dr Smidt said I had various issues that were causing my swelling and that I needed a revised TKR. This was very disappointing news but after meeting with Dr. Smidt and knowing how well he took care of my Mom I knew I was in good hands. Dr Smidt did my Revised TKR with Robotics and used the Subvastus Approach. My swelling after surgery is less than before and I haven’t taken any narcotics because my pain is very minimal. I’m having a completely different experience from my first surgery with a different surgeon. I was on narcotics for 3 weeks because I was in so much pain from my first surgery. With the combination of Dr. Smidt using fewer invasive methods for surgery and following his Less Swelling Less Pain protocol, I’m doing very well and having very little pain! So glad I had the revision! So thankful for Dr. Smidt and his staff! They have been so kind and patient to answer all my questions and to make me feel like they really care about taking care of my knee! I will definitely have Dr Smidt do my other knee replacement when needed and recommend him to all my friends that need hip or knee replacements.
