Joint Preservation Physicians
For those who qualify, Orthopedic ONE offers outpatient total joint replacement of the hip, knee and shoulder. A traditional joint replacement requires a 1-3 night stay in the hospital, but if you are in overall good health and have the right home support system an outpatient approach may be right for you. There are presumed benefits to this approach, but it’s important to discuss all of your options with your orthopedic surgeon.
Benefits may include:
• Ability to recover in the comfort of your own home
• Quicker return to normal activity
• Avoid burden and cost of an overnight hospital stay
In most cases, patients are able to return home within 23 hours of surgery, and sometimes as early as 4 hours after surgery.
You might hear outpatient total joint surgery referred to as “23-hour total joint replacement” or “same day total joint replacement,” but your length of stay following surgery will vary based upon your personal preference, physician and surgery center protocols. Your surgeon can tell you whether you are a candidate for same-day or outpatient total joint replacement. Regardless of approach, you are in good hands with the total joint team at Orthopedic ONE.
The total joint surgeons at Orthopedic ONE have performed more than 3,000 outpatient total joint replacements since 2012, and more than 5,000 total hip and knee replacements each year.
