Dr. Stephen J. Choban is a board certified physician with 25 years of general orthopedic experience. He is a Northeastern Ohio native, who attended Oberlin College (graduated with honors) where he not only played two sports, but was the captain for football and lacrosse.
He was awarded the Naval Medical Scholarship and received his bachelor's degree from Oberlin. Dr. Choban later attended Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and accomplished his residency training at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia. His military experiences included shipboard time as a Medical Department Head. In addition, he served in combat service in the first Gulf War and as an orthopedic trauma surgeon in the Marine Field Hospital.
Upon completion of his military service, he and his wife, a local bariatric surgeon, moved to Powell, Ohio where they currently reside. The Chobans have two sons enrolled in college on the East Coast.
Dr. Choban has been very active in youth athletics, serving as a coach, as well as a high school Booster president and a high school team physician.
