Description

Like other types of dysplasia, dysplasia of the hip refers to an abnormality in the anatomical structure. It may also be called development dislocation of the hip (DDH), acetabular dysplasia or congenital dislocation of the hip (CDH). Keep reading to learn more.

  • This condition is predominant in women.
  • Mild symptoms can be controlled with lifestyle changes such as activity modification, physical therapy, weight loss and corticosteroid injections.
  • X-rays help determine severity but almost all cases require either hip-preserving surgery or joint replacement.
